Mark Kalin has been building homes for over 25 years. He began building homes in 1976 and established his own company, Kalin Custom Homes, in St. Joseph, in 1979. In 1987 he moved to Smithville, and incorporated Kalin Custom Homes, Inc. He has built under that name since incorporating.

Mark has been an active member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) since 1986 attending and participating in NAHB shows and conventions for the past 15 years. He has also been active in local Home Builders Associations serving as the President of the Midland Empire Home Builders Association in 1986 and serving on the Educational Committee of the Kansas City Builders Association from 1995-1997.

Kerns Home Builders

The Kerns Family has been building quality homes for over 60 years. Starting in 1943, my Grandfather Orvile Kerns started the tradition of quality homes associated with the Kerns family name. For more than sixty years we have been building homes and priding ourselves on our ability to change with the times. As time has passed changes in customer's needs are very different from what they were sixty years ago. Materials and products for your new home and their availability have changed considerably. After reviewing a log book from my grandfather, it is easy to see the changes in constructing houses but the Kerns commitment to quality and customer satisfaction are still the same.

In 1963 my father, Wayne Kerns began building homes under the name Kerns Homebuilders, Inc. His commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is a large part of Kerns Homebuilders successes today. This valuable asset has helped us to maintain a great reputation.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering, in 1990 I began a senior management position with my father's company. In 2000 my father retired and I elected to carry on the tradition of Kerns Homebuilders under the new company name Gary Kerns Homebuilders L.L.C.
